Using K-Laser Therapy for Chiropractic Care

Written By Mountain Vista Health & Wellness Center on April 19, 2017

If you’re suffering because of back pain, chiropractic care is always a potential solution. However, one version most people don’t know about is called K-Laser therapy. Although Europeans have benefited from its healing effects since the 70s, it was only made available to Americans in 2002.

To help you better understand what this miraculous form of therapy entails, we’ve answered some of the most common questions we hear from our patients.

What Is K-Laser Therapy?

During K-Laser therapy sessions, the chiropractor uses a small handheld device that emits infrared lasers to increase metabolic activity at the cellular level. This device can utilize a number of wavelengths to provide a range of biostimulation across the patient’s body.

This creates a healing environment that helps reduce:

  • Inflammation

  • Muscle Spasms

  • Pain

  • Stiffness

  • Swelling

This healing environment persists once the session is over, so relief will carry on and, eventually, restore the body back to normal.

Does K-Laser Therapy Hurt?

Not at all. K-Laser therapy is completely painless. In fact, you probably won’t feel anything at all aside from a bit of tingling or an occasional warming sensation. At most, the treated area might be a little sensitive after the treatment, but that’s it.

How Long After My Session Will It Be Until the Pain Goes Away?

You may begin feeling a reduction in the pain you have after just one treatment. On average, though, it usually takes three or four sessions to begin feeling pain-relief.

How Often Do I Need K-Laser Therapy?

That being said, you will most likely require multiple therapy sessions for complete pain relief. If you have an acute condition, you’ll probably need daily treatments.

For chronic problems, you’ll most likely start at two to three sessions a week and eventually taper down as you improve.

The type of condition you have will ultimately dictate how many total treatments you’ll need. It could be just five or six for acute pain or a dozen if you have a chronic issue. Problems like arthritis may need ongoing care to control the pain.

K-Laser represents the future in healing. While you’ll hardly feel a thing, this simple device will be making changes beneath your skin that will give you your life back.
